Dear Married Friend,
You know that scripture that says "Can two work together except they agree?" I believe it is an underrated winning secret in a marriage that nobody is talking about.
If you've seen an animal trying to go in a different direction from where the owner needs it to go, then you'll understand what it's like for you and your partner to be talking from 2 sides of your mouth.
Recently, I was reading Genesis 11 which records the story of the Tower of Babel...the story about the people who spoke one language and wanted to build a tower until it reached heaven (what a wild dream). Now, they wanted to make a name for themselves. That was the goal. They didn't want the world to forget about them even when they were gone. As an aside, I wonder how they thought that far in such primitive times. It tells me that our minds are built to stretch themselves and birth big, daring dreams.
Anyway, back to the story. In verse 6 of that chapter, God says something interesting: "And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they have one language and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing will be impossible for them."
I drew out a formula from this - One people, One language = Impossibilities. #OnenessPower
The only reason God was worried was because of their oneness of heart. That oneness made them believe they could do it. That they had the materials, tools, and people to achieve such a feat. Kinda reminds me of that scripture in Mark 11:23 that says If you believe without a doubt in your heart and say to this mountain move, it will. In summary faith. But this time faith in one another.
I know sometimes, we don't trust the judgement of our partner especially if you are a black and white thinker like myself. But I need to you know today that there is power in ONENESS. When you grudgingly follow your partner or even refuse outrightly to follow or support your partner, you both lose your Oneness Power. Your mind becomes disconnected from the goal. You become bitter, angry, and sour that your partner isn't listening to you. Before you know it, you are silently praying for that venture to fail so you can say "I told you so" and reaffirm that your grey hair in fact symbolizes wisdom. Shey you see say witchcraft don dey enter like this already. Also, you make room for the devil to have a good day. Even if your partner eventually succeeds, it will be a lot harder than they had imagined because you weren't there.
"One shall chase a thousand and two shall put ten thousand to flight" Deu 32:30 - no be me talk am o, na so e dey for bible.
If you and your partner seek to achieve impossible feats, then you must do it together and harness the Oneness Power. If you believe that your partner is making a wrong move and they are adamant about it, speak to their heavenly Father but don't for once fight against them. Support them with your full chest while you trust their heavenly Father to do the rest.
Now, this is not an opportunity or a call to Lord yourself over your partner while you are screaming "Oneness Power". Don't forget, "submit yourself one to another" Eph 5:21. I just want you to tap into this power in all that you do as a couple, after all, you two have become one.
I love ya and will be waiting in the comment section.
Lots of Love,
From Another Married Friend.
This is insightful. God bless you.
